My postgraduate study and English at Kent State University
2012/09/24
Now I am studying Communication at Kent State University through the KSU Program in MUST. As I may be the first student from MUST to join this program, I think I have to write you this email to give some feedback to you, but I was quite busy with adjusting myself into the new environment.
When I saw your email to tell the students in MUST English is very important, I totally agree with that.
I have to admit, the sufficiency of my English ability gets me into trouble in my study in a US school. Lacking writing skill is the biggest problem. My major requires me to finish 2-3 assignments every week, and requires students have outstanding writing skills. Teachers may take care of the international students in the classes, so they may speak slowly. However, most of the Chinese students cannot understand the presentations by American students, as they are native speakers. Reading is another big problem. We are required to read plenty of books, reading materials, and law cases. As Chinese students don't have any knowledge about American History and Law, we should read more than other students. So I think every part of English studies is important, Reading, writing, speaking and listening.
By the way, Kent State University is a very good school from each aspect. I think the professors in our college are very good, and students are very friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities of the university are very good, too. The recreation center offers lots of fitness equipment and fields of different games. The swimming pool is extremely good. I like this school.
Thanks for MUST offer me a chance to study in one of the top universities in Ohio.
