On 26thof November, the final contest of the "21st Macao-wide English Speech Contest and the 28th ‘21st Century’ National English Speaking Competition" Macao Regional Competition was held at the Macau Polytechnic University. Luo Junyan from the School of Business and Liu Xipeng from the University International College of Macau University of Science and Technology stood out among many contestants and won the championship and third place respectively in the university category of this competition.

The "21st Macao-wide English Speech Contest" was held from September to November this year. It included the primary school category, the high school category and the university category. The contest consisted of two rounds: the preliminary audition and the final. The preliminary audition requires contestants to submit self-made short films to the organizing committee for preliminary review. The judges will score the contestants based on their English pronunciation, fluency, public speaking skills, speech content and conversation skills. After the audition, 10 contestants entered the final round of the contest, 5 of which were students from our university. In the intense competition of the final round, each contestant needed to give a prepared speech, followed by an impromptu speech and had to answer on-site questions.  With fluent English, quick analytical and organizational skills and elegant stage presence, Luo Junyan and Liu Xipeng from Macau University of Science and Technology finally won the championship and the third place of the university category of the competition. It is also the fourth consecutive year that an M.U.S.T. student has won the championship of the university category of the "Macao-wide English Speech Contest".

Also, Luo Junyan is qualified to represent the Macao region to enter the final contest of the 28th ‘21st Century’ National English Speaking Competition organized by China Daily next year, and compete with the best of the best in the nation.
